Whiteface mountain is a steep, heavily wooded mountain in northern Vermont that somehow still manages to offer some views from it’s summit and slopes. The mountain itself is best viewed from the farmland north of and above the Lamoille River or from Madonna Peak / Smugglers Notch ski area to the south.

The name for this High Peak came around possibly due to its look on a couple different sides and the steep slopes for which hold massive amounts of snow, giving it a “white face.” This peak was also called “white head” by some Native Americans and tribes of the Adirondacks.

The lower part of the ski area is perfect for beginners. Next to the Base Lodge and the Kids Kampus, there are a lot of beginner’s trails. There are also slow skiing zones and even very easy gladed runs.

How long does it take to ski down Whiteface Mountain?

Plan on 2 hours depending on what you want to do. The guys said that is a good amount of time to get to the top of Little Whiteface. However, if you are planning to try for the summit you should allow more time.
